Trailer - 'Terminator: Dark Fate'
First, a brief rundown of my reactions to the Terminator films thus far. Terminator: Great, but shows the most age, Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Excellent and very nearly a perfect film, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - Gets too much hate, doesn’t really add much to the franchise but is a totally competent and satisfying action film, Terminator: Salvation - also underrated, yes, characters are dull, but still functioned as a good action movie…ending falls flat though, Terminator: Genesys - What’s that? Never heard of it. So as you can see, I’m pretty forgiving of the franchise, though I do agree with most that Genesys is pretty much an abomination. This leads us to Terminator: Dark Fate, a film that seeks to erase 3, Salvation and Genesys from the record, and here’s the first trailer:
It’s nice to see LInda Hamilton back in action, and if not for her, I would put my interest level for this around where Genesys was. I don’t think this trailer did much of anything to sell me on a new Terminator film. I don’t completely understand what the plot is about, the action for some reason still doesn’t look all that great and I’m not quite sold on this new Terminator that looks like it can clone itself. Of course I’m still curious to see if this franchise can dig itself out of the deep hole its in and I’m intrigued by the decision to go with Tim Miller to direct, but I’m not hyped for this…yet.
Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters November 1st, 2019.
