Box Office Predictions - 'The Curse of La Llorona'
It’s shaping up to be a relatively quiet week at the box office this weekend as the shoreline begins to recede amidst the building tidal wave that is Avengers: Endgame. Still, the spin-off to a spin-off of The Conjuring, The The Curse of La Llorona could make some small waves of its own. Let’s take a look.
The Curse of La Llorona (WB)
The Curse of La Llorona has two things going for it: It’s loose connection to the ever-popular Conjuring universe and the good reception it received to it’s trailers. That said, the revelation that it’s in the Conjuring universe was revealed way too late in the game to drum up much excitement, and it’s reviews are on a precipitous decline the closer it gets to release. Still, as the sole wide release this weekend, more may opt to check it out as there is no counter-programming working against it.
The Curse of La Llorona will be the lowest grossing Conjuring film, no question, but I still think it will have a decent opening weekend, however, look for an insanely steep drop next weekend as everyone will be watching the Avengers and word will probably be out that La Llorona isn’t all that great. My prediction for The Curse of La Llorona is $15 million, and a total of $31 million by the time it leaves theaters.
