Trailer - 'The Lion King'

Trailer - 'The Lion King'

Jon Favreau’s The Lion King re-imagining just released its second trailer, and there’s a lot more going on in this one than the brief, but effective teaser that released a few months back. Take a look.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but the more I see of this movie, the more I believe it to be completely unnecessary. That is not to say that it doesn’t look well-made, it does and the CGI is astonishingly good, but it looks to be a much more realistic carbon-copy of the original film. As I watched the trailer I realized that it was basically a greatest hits “remember that!” reel. I’m wondering if Favreau actually has anything new to bring to the story other than a new coat of paint. Still, I’m somewhat excited to see how this all goes down and at the very least it will be a fun experience, I just don’t see it making much of a lasting impression if the trailer is a good indicator of what the final product is.

The Lion King hits theaters on July 19th, 2019.
