So, this 'Dungeons & Dragons' thing is really happening? I'll believe it when I see it.

So, this 'Dungeons & Dragons' thing is really happening? I'll believe it when I see it.

According to a report from Variety, It seems like Director Chris McKay is being eyed for the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons film which is set to come out sometime in 2021. Chris McKay made the perfectly fine Lego Batman Movie and is lined up to make Nightwing for WB next before jumping into Dungeons and Dragons

Okay, now here's my problem. There are so many cases where directors sign up for projects way in the future, and by the time they finish what they've currently been working on, they seem to lose interest in the project following afterwards. This is about as far from a sure thing for me as it gets. So while it's interesting to think about the possibility, I'd say the jury is still out on this one.

Now, if you want to imagine a scenario where this does end up happening, which I'd say the chances are....33.333%? Maybe? What kind of film will we get? Well, Paramount has designs on creating their own cinematic universe (*barf*) where the world of Dungeons and Dragons is shared with the re-booted worlds of Transformers, G.I. Joe and more Hasbro toys. Honestly, that sounds like a nightmare to witness, but with Chris McKay and his ability to make movies based on toys pretty well, we could have ourselves a bit of a surprise...emphasis on "could".

I think most of all I'm just angry that I can't get the fantasy film that I want. That is, one with adventure, stakes, interesting characters and fierce monsters. Yes, yes dammit, like The Lord of the Rings. Get off my ass. I do NOT want a Transformer in my medieval fantasy! I don't want Cobra Commander taking down Beholders! Anyway, I'm speaking from a position of zero knowledge of what's actually going to be produced, so I guess we'll see, but consider me still not hyped.
