News - Breck Eisner to Direct 'Friday the 13th' Remake
It looks like Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes is revving up the ol' reboot engine once more with the announcement of another fresh reboot of everybody's favorite backwoods mass-murderer, Jason Voorhees!
This time I do have a slight shred of confidence in this film based off of the decision to pick up Breck Eisner for directing duties. He's had a spotty record to be sure; he directed the big-budget, dopey dud 'Sahara' and most recently the Vin Diesel actioner, 'The Last Witch Hunter'. But wait, there's more! He also helmed the surprisingly good remake of 'The Crazies'. If Eisner can duplicate that success for 'Friday the 13th', I'll be more a than happy camper that will gladly take Jason's rusty machete through the chest while I'm sleeping. Seriously, how long has it been since a decent Jason outing?
Seriously though, this could be the course-correction that Jason needs, I get so sick of seeing every iconic horror character being directed by a first-timer who's only done commercial work, or was the special effects guy on some far superior film. I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet, but I will cross my fingers until they lose sensation.
