'Zombieland 2' Script Being Written by 'Deadpool' Scribes
I don't know what's been taking this film so long to get off the ground. It was a successful comedy that came out in 2009 when zombies were getting popular. Fast-forward to today and people still love comedies and zombies are even MORE popular. So what's the hold-up guys?
Well, the ball might finally be rolling a bit faster for the horror/comedy sequel. Paul Wernick and Rhett Rheese, who were the writers behind this year's surprise hit Deadpool are penning the script for Zombieland 2. This info leaked out on Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg’s new show, Geeking Out, which can be seen on AMC. Here's the direct quote from the writers themselves:
“That is breaking news that we’re on Zombieland 2 right now. We’re sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited.”
While Woody Harrelson is the only one they confirmed that they are actually meeting with, I'd imagine the rest of the cast from the original is also in talks for the sequel, or will be soon. My only hope is that this film lives up to the first one, they've certainly had plenty of time to come up with ideas.
There's no release date yet for Zombieland 2, but I would imagine there will be more announcements on the sequels progress sooner rather than later.
