Trailer - Arrival

Trailer - Arrival

Denis Villeneuve seems to be making a name for himself these days. After the fast-paced and beautifully shot Sicario, he's already slated to direct the Bladerunner sequel. Before that though I guess he wanted to whet his sci-fi whistle with Arrival, starring Amy Adams. This film should give us a good idea of how he might handle a Bladerunner film, as it will be his first foray into the science fiction genre.

This looks very promising. I get a bit of a Nolan vibe from the trailer just based off of the cinematography and the strength of the acting. I'm very curious to see how this new perspective on an alien invasion plays out; we don't need another action orgy like we seem to get in every alien-related sci-fi film that hits the screen. What also has me excited is that there seem to be some horror elements, which would be very much welcome. Villeneuve is still a new director so I'm going to try to keep my hype in check just in case Sicario was a fluke (which I doubt), but this does look like it might be a great time at the cinema and at the very least will be very pretty to look at.
