News - David Fincher in Talks for World War Z 2
Now this is a news development that I really wasn't expecting...
World War Z had tons of bad press surrounding rumored production problems as well as reports that Marc Forster and Brad Pitt were not getting along. It also supposedly had some pretty extensive re-shoots. Things really didn't look good for this film. Then it came out, and it was...surprisingly not bad, not anything great either, but a decent romp that put all of Roland Emmerich's latest disaster porns to shame. I never guessed that the first World War Z film would be successful yet it ended up making over half-a-billion dollars world-wide. Yeah, I don't think anyone else saw that coming either.
Well, an almost equally surprising rumor surrounding a World War Z film has surfaced. There's actually a chance that David Fincher will helm the sequel. This was one of the last people I would have ever expected to be up for this type of film. Seriously though, how cool would a zombie movie directed by David Fincher be? Well, I'll tell you, it'd be amazing, and knowing Fincher, the film would most likely receive that coveted "R" rating that the first installment so desperately needed. Of course we all know this whole thing only happened because of Brad Pitt's long history with the acclaimed director.
If Paramount lets David Fincher take creative liberties with this film, we could have quite an amazing piece of work on our hands. I hope talks don't fall through and this actually becomes official.
