News - 'Avengers: Infinity War' To Be One Film
It looks like Marvel Studios decided to go ahead and keep the Infinity War story central to one of the two upcoming Avengers films. The first of the two Avengers films scheduled to arrive in 2018 and 2019 has dropped the "part 1" of its title and is now simply titled: 'Avengers: Infinity War'.
Could it be that this was a result of seeing diminishing returns in regards to Part 1&2 style films as evidenced by the recent box office slouches of the Divergent series and the final Hunger Games? I personally don't think so, it is a smart choice though. I'm always less excited about "part 1" movies when they come out. You know they're going to end in some kind of cliff-hanger and the third act is never going to be as epic or cheer-worthy as the finale in the second half. 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1' was obviously inferior to Part 2 for this reason, and it's been the problem with every film that decides to go that route.
I still feel like there will be strong connective tissue between these two upcoming Avengers films, but it will be more along the lines of, say, the Pirates films ('Dead Man's Chest', and 'At World's End'), those two were connected but each had their story that was more-or-less standalone. Let's just hope Avengers fares a bit better than those two.
I trust in Marvel, they haven't let me down (too hard) yet, and have the best track record for this kind of thing, so I have no reason not to trust their judgement yet.
