Trailer - Split
It looks like M. Night Shyamalan is back in full swing, it hasn't even been a year since 'The Visit' released and we already have a trailer for his next flick, 'Split'
M. Night Shyamalan has had probably the most documented and high-profile of critical downward-spirals of any director I know; coming from the astronomical heights of 'Sixth Sense' to the unfathomable depths of 'The Last Airbender' and 'The Happening'. However he finally righted the ship a bit with the nerve-jangling little thriller 'The Visit.
Now we have 'Split', and i'm coincidentally a bit split on this trailer. Sorry, bad joke. But seriously, this trailer has some very interesting elements and hints at a twist, what a surprise. James McAvoy plays a man who kidnaps three girls. During their stay with him they figure out he has 23 different personalities; some nice, some not so much. James McAvoy is a great actor, but some of his personalities seem laughable and may end up garnering some unintentional laughs when scares were what they were looking for. The film does look a lot better than some of his lowest work though and it's good that he's sticking to these lower budget projects. I have hopes for this film, though they aren't that high yet.
