Trailer - Wonder Woman
With Comic-con fully upon us a stream of drool-worthy content is hitting the inter-webs at speeds quicker than I'm able to keep up with. The first thing I absolutely had to post was the 'Wonder Woman' trailer, which seems to provide just the kind of course-correction the DCU needs.
Finally. FINALLY. A DC-related film I can truly be excited about. I've been wanting to get behind the DC Cinematic Universe for a long time now, and so far they've released two stumbling films that show promise but have some deep-seeded problems. Unless my eyes and ears are cheated; 'Wonder Woman' looks like everything I hoped it to be. The trailer is undeniably epic, and it has something that previous the past two DC releases lacked: color and humor.
In the trailer we get glimpses of Themyscira and the Amazons led by a regal-looking General Antiope played by Robin Wright. We are then thrust into the World War 1 setting where most of the film looks to take place. The acting is on-point with no cheesy one-liners to be heard. Gal Gadot looks the part even more so than she did in 'Batman V. Superman'. Just like the trailer itself; her costume is imbued with more color and looks practical and not over-sexualized. The action seems a bit Snyder-y, which I think is fine so long as they don't overdo the slow-mo shots.
The only thing I can think of as a possible criticism is that it really seems to mirror 'Captain America: The First Avenger' pretty closely. Other than that, this film looks like it will be a success, I've been waiting to see Wonder Woman kick some butt on the big screen for a long time and it looks Patty Jenkins might just have pulled it off.
'Wonder Woman' will hit theaters June 2nd, 2017.
Oh! and here's the first gorgeous-looking poster:
