Box Office Results - 'Incarnate'

Box Office Results - 'Incarnate'

Incarnate, this weekend's sole wide release ended up making just a smidge more than I thought it was going to, but everything else was business as usual. This was the weekend after the Thanksgiving break so just about everything took a larger (but expected) dip with Moana predictably holding onto the throne.

Incarnate (High Top Releasing)
Prediction: $1.5 million
Actual: $2.5 million

So while my prediction was technically only a million shy of what the film actually made, this is still a pretty big miss if you go by my system of being within 10% on either side of what the film's weekend total to get a pass. The film ended up making $2.5 million which might be enough to get it past its $5 million budget, but not nearly enough to make this film a financial success. That said, this my be a better performer when it comes out on home media. For now, look for the film to make around $6 million domestically when all is said and done.

Moana held up pretty well considering it had a more inflated performance last weekend. The Disney pic lost about half of it's audience and should stabilize nicely in the coming weeks. Moana brought in $28 million this weekend and currently stands at $120 million domestically. It's hard to say how far it would go, but I would say it should at least be able to sail its way past $220 million. Not bad, but nowhere close to Frozen's numbers, which is a shame considering just how much better this film is.

Despite a disappointing first weekend, Allied had a pretty tremendous hold this weekend, which I expected due to this film's target audience. The Robert Zemeckis action romance dropped 45% to $7 million; the movie has raked in $29 million so far and might make it past $50 million domestically. It'll still need help from overseas markets, but at least it's making a bit of a dent here in the states.

Bad Santa 2 also had a decent drop, though it's not enough to save it from its disappointing opening weekend. The holiday comedy dropped 47% to $3 million and has logged $14 million in the books so far. The probably won't make it to $20 million, which is to say there will not be a Bad Santa 3 any time soon.

As bad as Bad Santa 2's performance has been so far, it's nowhere close to the absolutley dismal numbers pulled by Rules Don't Apply. Rules dropped a staggering 66% percent to $543 thousand. The film has only brought in $3.3 million so far and might not even make it past $5 million.

The Top 10

Moana - $28 million (-50%)
Fantastic Beasts - $18 million (-60%)
Arrival - $7 million (-37%)
Allied - $7 million (-45%)
Doctor Strange - $6.7 million (-51%)
Trolls - $4.7 million (-56%)
Hacksaw Ridge - $3.3 million (-40%)
Bad Santa 2 - $3.3 million (-47%)
Incarnate - $2.5 million (NEW)
Almost Christmas $2.5 million (-56%)

That does it for this weekend's box office results! This Wednesday I'll be predicting the opening weekend numbers for Office Christmas Party and Miss Sloane!
