Poster and Screenshots Released for 'Silence'
A beautiful new poster and some screenshots from Martin Scorsese's epic 'Silence' have been released. This should tide people over until we get the trailer for the film, which might drop later today or tomorrow.
Now I know I haven't seen any footage for this film whatsoever, but this looks like my kind of movie. For one, it's directed by Martin Scorsese who rarely makes missteps and two, it's a period piece that seems to really capture the look and feel of seventeenth century Japan. I also love the casting, Liam Neeson and Andrew Garfield look like they're giving it their all here. Again, haven't seen any footage, I'm just banking on this one delivering.
A few screens were also released for the film and you can get a bit of the sense of the scope in the film from them:
It's crazy that this film is coming out this December and hasn't yet seen the release of a single trailer or teaser. That's a very late-game marketing campaign. When I think about it though, that's probably a smart move. There are so many other films vying for audience's attention right now that it might get lost in the shuffle. If this film can strike hard and fast in the last month leading up to its wide January release, I think it should stay freshly in everyone's minds. Plus, if it's as good as it looks, word-of-mouth will work wonders during the Holiday season where films see unnaturally high multipliers.
Check back in for the first trailer for Silence which will likely drop very soon. Silence will be out in limited release on December 23rd, and will go wide in January of next year.
