Trailer - 'Valerian'

Trailer - 'Valerian'

Luc Besson looks to be returning to his roots a bit with the latest trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Valerian is a space-epic based off of the French series of comics entitled Valerian and Laureline. Having just seen The Fifth Element for the first time mere months ago and really admiring its tendencies towards being batsh*t insane; I'm excited to see how Luc Besson tackles a sci-fi with a very similar scope. Check out the trailer:

This could go both ways, guys. I think from a visual standpoint it looks very colorful, yet the CGI-ness of it could really bring it down if some of the alien designs aren't improved upon. I like the casting of Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne; but I'm still worried about how much chemistry they will actually have together. My knee-jerk reaction to this trailer is that we might have another Jupiter Ascending on our hands; A movie that is highly ambitious but ends up tripping on its shoe-laces right from the start and ends up being just too out-there for the general public. That said; I'm going to give Besson the benefit of the doubt here and go in with an open mind, who knows, this could strike the perfect chord and end up being really great.

Oh, and there's also a poster!
