New Images Reveal a Much Darker Tone for 'Logan'
I'm very excited to see how this latest Wolverine (now titled simply: Logan) turns out. Director James Mangold has already confirmed it will be R-rated; which a character like Wolverine sort-of requires if your going to do complete justice to the character. Over the past few days a few photos have been dropped that indicate just how dark this film might be.
The first one is of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, and it's easy to tell that he's seen better days:
It's sad seeing Charles Xavier in this state. From what I'm hearing, Xavier is at a point in his life where he's very old and struggling to hold onto his dwindling powers. From this alone, I can tell that they're really going for a different vision with this film, even if it will be hard to watch Xavier in a state of deterioration.
The next image is a not-subtle look at some of the violence we can expect to see in the film:
Yep, that right there is a severed hand still clutching a shotgun. My guess is that this unlucky victim didn't make Logan too happy. I'm liking what I'm seeing from this film so far, and Mangold is a highly capable director. With the Wolverine movies showing an upward trajectory in quality, this one could be the best one yet.
