'Suicide Squad' Getting Extended Cut
It looks like Suicide Squad will be receiving similar treatment as Batman V. Superman did earlier this year. Warner Bros. has just announced an extended cut for the DC film that will be released in November on VOD and December on blu-ray. I think we all knew that this would happen even though David Ayer kept trying to cover up the notion by saying that the version we saw in theaters was his director's cut. I find that hard to believe, but whatever.
Warner Bros. also released a short teaser with a few glimpses at new material along with looks at the box-art for the extended cut:
I'm one of the people that thought Suicide Squad was a fun, if massively flawed ride. If this extended cut can alleviate some of the god-awful editing, especially at the beginning of the film, it has a legitimate chance at being a helluva lot better than it was. What they seem to be teasing most of all in the teaser is an extended look at Harley Quinn and maybe, just maybe more Joker; which was an element that was sorely lacking about the original cut.
You'll be able to watch the extended cut digitally on November 15, and almost a month later on December 13, you'll be able to purchase the blu-ray.
