Ewan McGregor Wants Two Obi Wan Kenobi Films
He's said it in the past and he's saying it again. Ewan McGregor does not want to be done playing Obi Wan Kenobi on the big screen. In a recent interview with Premiere (via Den of the Geek) the actor stated his interest in starring in a Star Wars anthology film:
"It would be fun to film that story now [that] I'm older, I’d be the right age. I’m forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them!"
"I hope that they’re going to explore different genres under the Star Wars banner. And one of those could be an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film. Or two! The Obi-Wan Kenobi Story Part 1 and Part 2!"
I think it's quite clear by now that many weren't fans of the prequel trilogy, but what most could agree on was that McGregor as Obi Wan was one of the few bright spots. I myself actually enjoyed the third film in the prequel trilogy and thought the final light saber fight between Kenobi and Anakin was equal parts tragic and epic and was pulled off perfectly.
Personally, I'm in total agreement with McGregor here. I think there should at least be one Obi Wan Kenobi film and it would make perfect sense for McGregor to reprise his role. I honestly wish we were getting this instead of that Han Solo film. Besides, who wouldn't want to see what happens with Obi Wan between Episode III and Episode IV? And with an actor who has already had a huge amount of experience playing the character. This could even retroactively make the prequels looks better if it turns out to be a success. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
