Playstation Now Available on Windows PC Today
If you've been laudably laughing at those console peasants for their poor resolution and graphics but quietly crying yourself to sleep at night because you never got to play Uncharted 2, you can rest easy because now you can access hundreds of Playstation's greatest games right on your PC!
Straight from Playstation.com, Playstation games can now be played via a streaming service similar to that of Netflix. There's a 7-Day Free Trial after which the subscription will renew at $19.99 per month or if you prefer a better bang for your buck, there is a $99.99 subscription for a full year.
Sony has also released the requirements for Playstation Now:
- Windows 7 (SP 1), 8.1 or 10
- 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
- 300 MB or more; 2 GB or more of RAM
- Sound card; USB port
- Supports both 32 and 64 bit computersuters
- 5mbps or greater internet connection
The drawbacks I can see of this is whether or not customers' internet speeds can support Playstation Now as it requires a 5Mb/s connection, which isn't that much, but if say you're using Netflix at the same time, it would most certainly affect the quality of the games. Also, you can only use a Dualshock 4 controller, which is the standard Playstation 4 controller, and third party controllers are not supported at all.
I think this is a great step forward for Sony and an excellent time for PC gamers to check out some Playstation classics they may have missed out on.
