News - Nintendo NX Will be Portable, Has Detachable Controllers and Will Have Cartridges
The NX looks like it's shaping up to be the bridge between mobile gaming and home theater gaming. In a new report from Eurogamer, multiple sources have confirmed a number of things about the highly anticipated device.
Firstly, it will be portable and will have controllers on either side of the screen that are detachable. The device will also be able to connect to a docking station for use on a TV screen. It also sounds like Nintendo is moving back to its tried-and-true cartridges for its gaming software. The NX will operate on it's own OS designed by Nintendo and not the rumored Android OS.
Finally, it sounds like Nintendo's NX will look to create a seamless unification between it's console games and its handheld games. There will be a console that stays in the living room, along with a mobile gaming device. The NX is scheduled to release globally in March of 2017. Nintendo is still holding their cards close to their vest, saying there are a few more surprises that they have chosen not to reveal just yet.
This sounds like an ambitious console, and one that fascinates me a lot more than the Wii U ever did. I look forward to further information explaining how this will all work.
